Healing architecture

Over the past decades, there has been a growing interest in how the environment affects our well-being. Hospitals, care homes and other treatment facilities are increasingly using interior design as an active factor to help patients' health and well-being.
Several studies have shown how, among other things, well-chosen motifs and art on the walls can affect people's psychological and physiological state. Architectural techniques such as sound, light, color and art play a decisive role in healing architecture and, ultimately, our collective well-being.

The importance of good acoustics

Good acoustics are essential for your well-being. Peace and quiet have become a rare luxury, as we are constantly exposed to man-made sounds, bombarded with impressions that drown out the soundscape of nature and burden our senses. Our brains are designed to navigate and pick up nature's own sounds; The roar of the waves, the chirping of the birds and the rustling of the trees . Sounds that are far from what the average Dane is exposed to every day. Instead, we become part of the city's sounds both outside and inside our own home.

Noisy architecture

People's fondness for materials such as concrete, steel and glass, which typically dominate modern construction, throws the sound around. Which means that hard materials intensify the everyday sounds in one's home, and therefore cooking, children's voices and a TV running can end up being a definite sound inferno.

The constant noise level is not only tiring, it also increases stress, and it is now known that noise over a longer period also affects our physical well-being.

Although many architects today integrate sound-absorbing materials and consider acoustics in their projects, there are still an enormous number of homes that need a helping hand with acoustics.
